Damn, I just got done reading my friend Josh's blog about Brazil and the gender gap there. It's ridiculous. I just can't imagine myself living and dealing with men who would talk down to me and treat me as someone lower than them just because I'm of the female persuaion.
Now, I know I've done things that have made people think that I'm a "slut" or whatever, but that stuff has yet to come back and bite me in the butt. While never having lived during the sexual revoloution, I know my mom had to deal with the inequalties of being a woman during most of her lifetime. It's just the thought of people looking down upon me because I'm a woman is just so un-bearable, it makes me want to scream.
I know Josh is uncomfortable sitting there and watching it happen, but I'm uncomfortable with the thought that men in general down there don't treat women with respect. It amazes me really that stuff like this happens in this day and age, but this and many other areas of Latin America, more importantly the world, have yet to actually have a gender or sexual revoloution hit them.
In the middle of all this blogging, I realized that I probably would get a lot of dissenence down there just because I would stand up for myself aganist people who would try to put me down. Actually, I would probably scream at the first guy who tells me that I'm wrong even though I'm right.
I told my mom about this and how I feel that I would react to it if something like this happened to me. While I know I say I would probably do this or that, I actually think I wouldn't realize what would be happening to me until after it happened. I don't like to think that I wouldn't react until afterwards, but I know I would definatly not react the way I hope I would.
These are just some thoughts about what has been going through my head

Everybody Gots'ta Pants
Whoa, I've just been reading since about 8 this evening and I seriously haven't considered how late it was until just now.
So right now I'm wearing, what I guess you could call, my first ever safe pants. Pants that I'm madly in love with. They're just this cut up pair of sweatpants that I got from this guy after running around in a dorm with my bottom wet from sitting in a kiddie pool (don't ask). I wore them for two and a half days straight. Only taking them off to let them dry. I adore these pants so much, I don't think the guy who gave them to me even knows how much I love them. He told me he didn't really care what happened to them, so I knew I could keep them.
These pants are amazing. I feel so safe and secure in them, especially when I wear them without shorts underneath. Even though it's hard to keep them up without shorts if I have my cell phone or iPod in my pocket. I think they have more sentiment to me because not only do they bring security and comfort to me, I also get to remember the person who gave them to me. Now that my mom has sent them through the wash though, they no longer smell like the guy who owned them before me.
Even though I barely know the guy who gave them to me, I'll always be grateful that he gave them to me.

Blue, no Red Hair

Recently, as in Friday afternoon, I decided to get rid of my grown out pink and blond highlights for a more "natural" looking hair color. Of course, being me I choose a color that made me match my mom's van. Now, being able to blend in with a car is not so bad, if I ever get stalked by an obsessive boyfriend I can now run to my mom's van and hide there by leaning against it. Ode to joy!
On the bright side, my friend Mike Frye has created a group in the last month about ducks that swamps other group pages with nonsense about ducks. I personally think this is hilarious. I also think that everyone with a sense of humor should defiantly look up on this group. Even though I think this is hilarious, I don't think the "Adam and Eve, Not Adam and Steve" group find it quite as funny. Though I have to say, this has been better planned than "Facebook Equals Persia", where I was a "Spartan Princess".
Well that's all the time I have now,
Soup's On!

There is Always a Beginning

In the beginning, there was nothing, then there was Lindsey...
Hi,
My name is Lindsey Robison and I'm going into my junior year of high school. Thrilling, I'm sure. Junior year is supposedly your most important year of high school and I hope to document as much of it as possible, by using this blog. When this coming school year is over I hope to be able to see how much I've grown since the start of this blog.
These are things that I want to change or have happen:
- Stop talking about myself and ask more questions about others
- Become closer with my friends from school
- Become less the awkward person I am in some situations and be the more confident person in every situation
- Get at least all B's for the whole school year
- Set up interim early
- Set up interim out of Columbus, preferably out of state.
- Visit all the top ten colleges for their animal behavioral science programs
- Get an actual job that pays
- Volunteer at least once a week
- Start seriously planning for Walkabout
- Help someone everyday
- Stand-Up for what I believe in, even if it goes against the crowd.
Lindsey
